CALGARY, Dec. 12 /CNW/ - Sienna Gold Inc. (SGP.V TSX Venture Exchange) announces the latest significant assay results from the Igor property. The area sampled consists of several tunnels to the north and extending further to the west of the previously reported sampling results. This extension of the mineralized zone adds approximately 300 meters of strike length resulting in a total strike length of 500 meters. Additionally, it adds 25 meters of width to the Tesoros mineralized zone resulting in a total width of 50 meters. The vertical dimension of the zone has been determined to be at least 400 meters. The Company's geologists have also found additional workings, called "Socavon", to the northwest of the Tesoros zone following a major fault system which connects the Tesoros fault to a second regional north-south trending fault to the west known as Tesoros II. Mapping of this new zone indicates similar breccia lithology to the Tesoros zone and sampling is currently underway to test the continuity of mineralization through this area.

The latest sample results are from tunnels located as much as 300 meters to the north of the last sampled areas of the Tesoros zone (Santa Rosa). Samples were also taken from the Randy tunnels (50 meters north) and Chungon zones (300 meters to the northwest) of the Tesoros zone. The Randy 3 tunnel was the longest tunnel sampled at approximately 50 meters. Included in the averages above are the following samples which returned assays greater than 12 grams per tonne of gold and greater than 1000 grams per tonne of silver.

Sampling Methodology
The samples were taken by first exposing fresh rock in a 15 centimetre wide by 2 centimetre deep channel in the walls (longitudinal) and roof (perpendicular) of the tunnels. Continuous samples were then chipped from the full width of the channel and collected for analysis. Where the rock was too hard for a full width sample, a narrower sample was taken from within the prepared channel zone ensuring that samples from the full width of the channel were obtained. Roof samples were taken approximately every 5 meters along the length of the tunnels (when accessible) accounting for lithology changes and ground conditions.
Assaying Methodology
The samples were analyzed by SGS Laboratories in Lima by atomic absorption for silver and a 30 gram fire assay technique for the gold analysis. Samples which exceeded the detection limits were re-assayed using a gravimetric fire assay technique. The specific procedures used by the lab can be found in the company's 43-101 report on the Igor property.
