Sienna Reports Significant Gold and Silver Occurrences on the Igor Property in North Central Peru

TSXV - TSX Venture Exchange · Gold · Copper · Molybdenum · Rare Earth Elements · Uranium · Canada

CALGARY, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Sienna Gold Inc. (SGP TSX Venture Exchange) announces complete assay results from two north trending tunnels at the top of the dome structure (elevations 3120 meters and 3150 meters above sea level) on the Igor property as well as from 15 shorter tunnels at approximately elevation 2750 meters near the base of the dome. The Igor property is located in north central Peru in the Department of La Libertad area approximately 9.5 kilometres north of the newly opened Lagunas Norte Mine (Alto Chicama) of Barrick Gold.

General Description

From these assay results the Company has determined the presence of disseminated gold and silver in a mineralized breccia zone. Based on geologic mapping, surveying and geochemical analysis the Company infers that the mineralized, disseminated sandstone breccia zone is at least 35 meters wide, 110 meters (360 feet) long and 340 meters (1,115 feet) high. The Company is particularly encouraged that samples of other rock types returned positive assay values for both gold and silver, indicating that the dissemination extends beyond the sandstone breccia. Recent mapping indicates that the width of the mineralized zone may increase to 50 meters (165 feet) at the top of the breccia zone and 100 meters (328 feet) towards the base. Both tunnels terminated in high grade mineralization indicating that the disseminated breccia zone is open towards the north. Based on geologic mapping and structural interpretation the Company infers the mineralization may extend more than 300 meters (985 feet). A large, oxidized porphyry intrusive has been mapped 400 meters (1,312 feet) below the tunnels and underlying the breccia zone. Chip samples from surface and channel samples from shallow, old workings indicate that this porphyry intrusive is mineralized as shown on the accompanying table. The Company is especially interested in this recently discovered area and will be testing the porphyry mineralization as well as the breccia zone in an upcoming drill campaign.

3150 Underground Tunnel

The north trending 3150 tunnel is approximately 110 meters (360 feet) long and was mined in the past 3 years during which 15,000 tonnes of high grade mineralization was extracted leaving behind the lower grade material which was sampled by the Company. The tunnel is 1.3 meters wide by 2 meters high on average. In areas of high grade mineralization the height of the tunnel is approximately 10 meters. At its widest point the tunnel splits and is 18 meters across. A total of 247 samples were collected in the tunnel and of these 13% (32 samples) had assay values greater than 8 g/t of gold and 29% (71 samples) assayed greater than 100 g/t silver.

The average grade of specific zones in the 3150 tunnel are as follows:

west wall 3.7 g/t (0.12 oz/t) gold 228.1 g/pt (7.1 oz/t) silver; east wall 3.3 g/t (0.10 oz/t) gold 93.4 g/pt (2.91 oz/t) silver; roof 3.6 g/pt (.11 oz/t) gold 117.2 g/t (3.65 oz/t) silver; dead-end tunnel faces 5.1 g/t (0.16 oz/t) gold 72.0 g/t (2.24 oz/t) silver; floor 4.4 g/t (0.14 oz/t) gold 85.0 g/t (2.65 oz/t) silver.

Porphyry Exploration Target

Exploration work has recently commenced at the base of the breccia zone (elevation 2750 m) in an oxidized porphyry intrusive in which 15 short, underground tunnels have been discovered. These tunnels appear to be over 100 years old and may even date from Spanish colonial times. The tunnels are developed in an oxidized porphyry intrusive rather than the disseminated sandstone breccia and the porphyry has been mapped over an extensive area. Spanish colonial and more recent artesenal miners were only interested in zones with higher grades of gold mineralization. These horizontal tunnels are from 1 to 6 meters in length and were developed using very archaic methods. Samples taken from the tunnels returned values of gold and silver and results will be presented when the complete sampling and mapping campaign has concluded.

Sampling Methodology

The samples were taken by first exposing fresh rock in a 15 centimeter wide by 2 centimeter deep channel in the walls (longitudinal) and roof (perpendicular) of the tunnels. Continuous samples were then chipped from the full width of the channel and collected for analysis. Where the rock is too hard for a full width sample, a narrower sample is taken from within the prepared channel zone ensuring that samples from the full with of the channel are obtained. Roof samples are taken approximately every 5 meters along the length of the tunnels (when accessible) accounting for lithology changes and ground conditions.

Assaying Methodology

The samples were analyzed by SGS Laboratories in Lima by atomic absorption for silver and a 30 gram fire assay technique for the gold analysis. Samples which exceeded the detection limits were re-assayed using a gravimetric fire assay technique. The specific procedures used by the lab can be found in the company's 43-101 report on the Igor property.
