Jun. 9, 2010 (TheNewswire.ca) --
June 10, 2010 Vancouver, B.C .Ocean Park Ventures Corp. ("Ocean Park" or the "Company")(TSXV: OCP) is pleased to announce the start of exploration at the Chisna porphyry copper-gold project in South-Central Alaska. The Chisna Project is a 62,103 hectare district-scale copper-gold regional exploration play that hosts several large copper-gold occurrences that have returned grades of up to 13 g/t gold and 7.1% copper in surface samples.
An airborne "ZTEM" geophysical survey, operated by Geotech Ltd., is currently being flown to assist in defining targets for upcoming diamond drilling. ZTEM has been effectively deployed over other Alaska porphyry deposits, including the Pebble deposit of Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (AMEX:NAK) , and has proven successful in defining porphyry mineralization near surface and to depth. The ZTEM survey will be followed by ground-based three-dimensional IP surveying operated by SJ Geophysics Ltd. to further define the in-ground geometry of the porphyry mineralization zones.
Field crews have been mobilized to the area and are proceeding with geological mapping and prospecting of the property. The combination of geophysics, geological mapping and prospecting will guide the 6000+ metres of diamond drilling which is expected to commence in July.
Ocean Park is also pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Nadia Caira, P.Geo. to the position of Senior Technical Advisor for the Chisna Project. Ms. Caira has over 28 years of porphyry copper and gold exploration experience and will be guiding the exploration program at Chisna on behalf of the Company.
Chisna Project Background
The Chisna Project, located in the Chistochina mining district of south-central Alaska, is a Joint Venture between Ocean Park's wholly owned subsidiary Ocean Park Alaska Corp. and International Tower Hill Mines Ltd.'s (AMEX:THM) ("ITH")(TSXV: ITH, NYSE-A: THM, Frankfurt: IW9) wholly owned subsidiary Raven Gold (OTCBB:RVNG) Alaska Inc. Ocean Park's 51 % in the Joint Venture is earned by its US$20M contribution for exploration expenditures over a 5 year period. The 2010 exploration budget is in excess of US$6M.
The Chisna porphyry copper-gold belt contains numerous copper and gold surface discoveries made by ITH from 2006 to 2008. The two most significant targets are the highly prospective 8+ square kilometre, Ahtell alkaline porphyry copper-gold system, located in the southeast end of the belt, and the large 40+ square kilometre POW copper-gold system located to the northwest.
The project targets Cretaceous copper-gold porphyry style mineralization of a similar age to the Pebble deposit, located approximately 600 kilometres to the southwest.
