VANCOUVER, May 24, 2011 /CNW/ - Westminster Resources Ltd. ("Westminster" or "the Company") reports drill core results from the balance of the Phase One Drill Program at the Anita Copper Mine area (fourteen holes) on the El Cobre Property, Sonora, Mexico. The successful program has confirmed copper-silver-gold mineralization down dip and along strike in a structural corridor drilled for 250 meters along the estimated 600 meters of outcropping breccia. Ten holes returned significant oxide mineralized intervals. Drill hole location maps for the 2010 and 2011 drilling programs at the Anita Copper Mine area can be viewed at http://westminsterres.com/investor/files/2010-2011_drill_map.pdf

"We are very pleased with these drill results," commented Bruce Ballantyne, Project Manager. "We are also excited by the fact that this structural corridor and related Breccia zone may be part of a much larger mineralizing system on the El Cobre Property."

Three holes ( ELC 11-15, 11-19 and 11-21) were oriented to test the area along strike and down- dip from ELC 10-05which intersected 9 meters grading 2.37% copper, 22.72 g/t silver and 1.17 g/t gold(WMR 11-02 press release, February 07, 2011 ). At a vertical depth of 81.4 to 96.5 meters, Hole ELC 11-21down-dip from ELC10-05 intersected 15.1 meters grading 1.46%copper, 22.1 g/t silver and 525 ppb gold(Table One). The interval consisted of a mixture of copper oxide minerals (leached) and copper sulphides (chalocopyrite, bornite, chalococite) partially preserved in quartz including a 1.0 meter interval of sulphide breccia grading 5.88% copper, 127 g/t silver and 840 ppb gold. This interval demonstrates that significantly higher grade concentrations of copper are obtained where un-leached primary sulphides are preserved. This zone as presently understood is open to extension along strike beyond hole ELC 11-15, and to depth.

Continuity along strike of the breccia is confirmed by ELC 11-15 and 19. ELC 11-15intersected a 0.5 meter intercept of crysocolla (6.5m to 7.0m) grading 13.5% copper, 107 g/t silver and 3.5 g/t gold while the42.5 meter intercept of oxidized breccias (16.0-58.5m) grades 0.37% copper, 6.8 g/t silver and 192 ppb goldand drill hole ELC 11-19intercepted 51.5 meters (36-87.5 meters) grading 0.56% copper, 3.9 g/t silver and 107 ppb gold.

ELC11-19 also contained an 89.6 meter intercept of 3.6 g/t silver. Other holes (Table One) showing broad intervals of significant silver concentrations in the near surface breccia zone where primary copper sulphides have been leached and copper content removed include hole ELC 11-15 (7-76.5 meters, 69.5 meter intercept grading 5 g/t silver), ELC 11-18 (0-37.6 meters, 37.6 meter intercept grading 5.0 g/t silver) and ELC 11-19 (12-156.9 meters, 144.9 meter intercept grading 2.5 g/t silver). Hole ELC 11-16 intercepted from surface 40.1 meters showing partial copper leaching (0.09% copper) with coincident silver grading 7.6 g/t silver (a less mobile element preserved in the oxidizing environment). In contrast, hole ELC 11-18 from surface to 6 meters grades 1.47% copper, 12.8 g/t silver and 91 ppb gold.

Within the brecciated structural corridor an example of epithermal-style quartz mineralization overprinting is found in ELC 11-11 where a 0.3 meter intercept grades 9.0 g/t gold, 5.2 g/t silver and 0.15% copper.

"The Phase One drilling at the Anita Copper Mine target has successfully intersected significant grades of copper, silver and gold over broad intervals in the weathered environment; this validates our exploration model for this part of our district. Going forward at the Anita Copper Mine, our next objective prior to Phase Two drilling is to conduct a detailed geophysical survey designed to locate primary copper sulphides that are likely preserved below the oxide zone" commented Glen Indra, CEO of Westminster Resources.

In compliance with NI 43-101 protocol, all drill core samples were sawn in half at the secure site and one half core samples were numbered and bagged generally over intercepts of one to one and a half meters in core length. The remaining half core was saved and securely stored in standard wooden core boxes on site. The drill core samples were collected at the project site by Sonora Sample Preparations (SSP) S.A. de C.V., and securely delivered to their sample preparation facility in Hermosillo, Sonora where they were crushed and ground according to the ACME Laboratories protocol R150. After splitting the pulps, SSP shipped approximately 150 grams per sample via International Courier to ACME Analytical Laboratories Ltd., Vancouver, B.C. A 15 gram subsample from each pulp was analyzed by a 58 element wet geochemical ultratrace ICP-MS procedure (ACME Code IF). All samples containing overlimit base metal and/or precious metal results were re-analyzed by ACME using standard Fire Assay or ore assay determination methods. Normal practice QA-QC blank, duplicate and standard reference material samples were inserted by the Company and laboratory and analyzed in the sample stream. True intercept thickness estimates of mineralization are unknown at this time. Intercepts reported in the Tables are calculated weighted averages.

The 2011 exploration program was conducted by geologists and geotechnical staff supplied by Minconsult Exploration Services Ltd., Vernon, British Columbia.
