THUNDER BAY, ON, Feb. 14 /CNW/ - Benton Resources Corp. ("the Company") is pleased to announce that the Company has initiated a diamond drill program at the 100% owned Bermuda/Bamoos project located near Marathon, Ontario. The drill rig is being mobilized onto the property for a program which is designed to complete more than 10,000 metres of drilling. The program will start on the Bamoos portion of the property which hosts the northern strike extent of the Marathon PGM deposit. Encouraging results have been intersected in the drilling to date on the Bamoos portion, including drill hole BO-06-20 which intersected an upper oxide cumulate zone grading 1.18 g/t palladium (Pd), 0.27 g/t platinum (Pt), 0.11 g/t Gold (Au), and 0.1% copper (Cu) over 19.85 metres. This was followed by a lower zone hosted in gabbro that graded 0.91 g/t Pd, 0.24 g/t Pt, 0.10 g/t Au and 0.58% Cu over 102.0 metres (see BTC PR March 2, 2006). Many of the previous holes drilled by Benton have exhibited very thick intervals of pervasive mineralization, although at this early stage the true thickness is unknown. Assays of this diamond drill program will be made available to the public as the results are received.
