STEWART, BC, April 27 /CNW/ - This property consists of 80 units in 4 claims covering an iron formation horizon within Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic volcanic rocks, approximately 40 kilometers east of Stewart, BC. VMS mineralization consists of stratabound lenses carrying pyrite, hematite, magnetite, chalcopyrite, chlorite, epidote and chert and mafic tuff. Pyrite and chalcopyrite occur as disseminations, laminae parallel to bedding, cross cutting stringers and occasionally as massive pods within barite rich horizons. Several barite rich horizons are indicated within the iron formation hosting the mineralization that has been traced for a distance of 8 kilometers. Three horizons, locally up to 3 meters wide, occur within a zone that has overall widths up to 16 meters. The BC Annual reports give values indicating that individual horizons have grades of 16 % copper over 1 meter, 14 % copper over 1 meter and 5 % copper over 1.5 meters. The zone of interest has been traced for over 1000 meters in the area of the above sampling. Historical resources in the BC Minfile have been reported to total (indicated and inferred) 180,000 tonnes grading 2.0 per cent copper, 17.1 grams per tonne silver and 2.1 grams per tonne gold. Unclassified resources were reported to be 453,550 tonnes grading 17.1 grams per tonne silver, 2.0 grams per tonne gold and 2.0 per cent copper. It should be noted that these resources are historical in nature and are not 43-101 compliant and should be used for reference purposes only. The last reported exploration on this property appears to be from the 1970's. Since this period, the ice levels in the main showing area have greatly retreated.
