Fieldex drills 1.36% nickel, 1.31% copper over 7 meters at Midrim copper nickel property

ROUYN-NORANDA, QC, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Fieldex Exploration Inc. (FLX :TSXV and F7E : Frankfurt) has received partial assay results from the 18-hole diamond drilling program started on August 1st, 2007, on recently acquired claims from FNX Mining where Fieldex now owns 100-per-cent interest, subject to 2% royalties to FNX Mining, on the company's Midrim project located in Northwestern Quebec. Holes MR07-06 intersected disseminated and massive sulphides with high-grade copper-nickel and platinum-palladium values. Intersections in Hole MR07-01 included 7.00 metres (23.3 feet) grading 1.31% copper, 1.36% nickel, 0.02% cobalt, 0.27 grams/tonne platinum and 0.92 grams/tonne palladium. Intersections in Hole MR07-07 included 3.60 metres (12.0 feet) grading 1.41% copper, 1.12% nickel, 5 grams/tonne silver, 0.36 grams/tonne platinum and 0.80 grams/tonne palladium.
At Midrim, mineralization typically consists of a number of gabbroic sills with disseminated sulphides in the upper parts of the sills followed by massive sulphide accumulations along the basal part of the sills. The massive sulphides are comprised mainly of chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, violarite, pentlandite and pyrite. Native gold and platinum/palladium minerals have also been identified in the sulphides.
The Midrim Zone represents one of several outcropping nickel-copper-platinum-palladium mineralized areas within the Company's Midrim-Temiscamingue Project Area. Mineralization is hosted by magnetite-rich gabbroic and subordinate ultramafic rocks. However, much of the Midrim-Temisamingue area is covered by overburden and outcrop is scarce.
